“The earth is what we all have in common” – Wendell Berry

Environmental Responsibility

Green building is a design philosophy that focuses on increasing the efficiency of our use of resources (energy, water, & materials) while reducing the building impacts on our health and environment, through better site selection, construction, and operation. As a flooring installation company, and not a flooring retailer that sells materials to the public, it can be difficult to promote environmentally friendly standards. And although, we only play a small part in the overall installation process, we strive to reduce our ecological footprint by taking the extra step through technological advances for indoor environmental quality or by redirecting materials from landfills to be recycled and reused. So far there’s only one planet and we want to help make the best of it.

Material Reclamation

Material reclamation is a corporate responsibility and practice of ours regardless of whether the project is a 100,000 square foot office building or a 1000 square foot residential home. We try to be at the forefront of recycling new and used material and are proud to work with companies such as Shaw, Mohawk, and Leggett & Platt to recycle carpet and urethane carpet padding.

Urethane Pad

Since 2005, Keller Interiors has diverted over 10 million pounds of urethane pad from landfills. Instead, it has been recycled and repurposed for many other foam cushion needs within the flooring industry and other market segments as well.

Carpet

Since 2008, Keller helped to reclaim nearly 750,000 pounds of new scrap and old carpet, which was recycled, downcycled, and/ or repurposed. Keller has continued to do so every year since for suitable projects and continues to pursue responsible waste mitigation efforts to set the standard for recycling & repurposing in the construction labor sector.
